Macular Degeneration

  • The condition effects the macula and causes the loss of central vision. It is the most common cause of vision loss in older adults over the age of 50. Some causes of macular degeneration could be heredity, UV Light exposure, smoking, poor nutrition, lack of exercise. Some common symptoms include:
    • The gradual loss of ability to see objects clearly.
    • The shape of objects appears distorted.
    • Straight lines look wavy or crooked.
    • Loss of clear color vision.
    • A dark or empty area in the center of vision.
